Today was a day unlike any that we have had lately...it was raining! Trying to come up with activities to entertain the children when you can't go outside is always a task. I knew that i had to clean and organize the garage and I figured that if the children were inside something terrible would happen. So, I figured that I would set up half the garage as a play area for them and keep them with me. This sounds great in theory. What I had not thought about is how much more it can echo in a garage...so add Sophia and Bella laughing and screaming and I often wondered if cleaning the garage was a good idea or not.
Well, while out there Bella had decided that she needed to go potty. Sophia, being helpful in that moment informed me that she is plenty big enough to walk her in and help her. I decided to let her since I do have so much to get done and told her to bring out a diaper after she went potty. It did not work out as peaceful as it sounds. Bella (being nearly 2) wanted to empty her own potty and Sophia knows the rule that she is not allowed. I could hear screaming and as I approached the bathroom I found two little girls fighting over who was going to dump a very full potty chair into the toilet. I am just grateful that I interviened before it was split!
After the potty event I figured it would be a good time to start lunch so that naps could follow. I started to make sandwiches and as I began to cut the watermelon I saw the clock and realized that it was only 10:30am.....at that moment I realized that it going to be a long day! We had lunch/large snack and went to go play in the garage some more. After another hour it was time for Isabella to take her nap and for Sophia to go with grandpa for a couple hours (something I do not get often, but LOVE it when I do!!) I worked on the garage the entire time and got lots done.
When Isabella awoke, she ran straight for the garage and said "me pay side" which translates into I want to play on the slide! :) I am not sure how long they are going to want to stay playing in the garage, but while they are willing I will make the most of my time!
